The maximum length should be kept to 65 chars. Further, characters would be truncated.

  • Heading Tags

Heading like h1,h2,h3,h4 should be used to highlight the main points in the blog. Title of the blog is automatically added by WordPress CMS as H1 tag. So, there is no use to add H1 tag again in the article. It is recommended to use H2, H3 and H4 tag in an article or post a Google loves these tags and easily recognize them. But, do not overuse these tags as these may count in negative SEO practice.

  • Unique Content

Relevant keywords should be included in the article to make it more impressive. But, don’t overdose the article with the keywords to increase the page rank.

If you do not write unique content, users won’t stay at the site for long and will leave the site soon which will in turn increase the bounce rate of your site and will count in negative by Google in determining SEO score.

  • Word Count

Although, Google loves quality over quantity, you should focus to have at least 300 words in your blog post. But it is recommended to have at least article of about 500 words to offer user something informative. A short article can’t hold the users attention and hence the user will switch to some other site and will not bother to visit your blog anytime soon. The more you have returning visitors on your site, the more your site’s page rank will improve.

Search engine crawlers look out for bold and italic text and determine your page rank on basis of that.

  • Images and Videos

Images play an important role in bringing organic traffic to your blog. Users often search for images on search engines and land on your site if they find image interesting. If you have an article of about 550 word count, you can include two middle size images in it and add relevant tags i.e. “alt” which should have the relevant keyword related to that post. Size of the images should less as large size will reduce the page loading time which will count in negative SEO.

All the text you write on your blog can be understood through videos. You can look out for videos on, or and share the embedded code on your blog post. Google loves videos as they will hold your users attention and will decrease bounce rate of your site.

  • Meta Keywords

You can add relevant keywords on your site to the “meta-keywords” tag of your blog post. Your search ranking will do down drastically if you even think of doing so.

Always add rel=”nofollow” if you are not sure about the content of that site and “dofollow” for the content that you trust and think that this content is highly informational and credible. In other cases , you can omit that tag. Sites like Wikipedia are rich in content and you can avoid using “nofollow” tag while linking to those sites.

  • Interlinking

Interlining other articles within your blog post will further increase traffic to them. Do not link every keyword on your post. Only relevant keyword should be linked. The article which is linked through interlinking should offer something interesting to the users. Don’t add keyword just for the sake of it. also, do not interlink same keyword with two different post or articles.

  • Sitemap

Do create a sitemap of your blog or website and submit it to major search engines. Sitemap helps in indexing posts or articles in the search engines quickly. Do not publish duplicate links in the site map as they will not be looked upon as a good idea. Avoid including link for tags and categories in your sitemap. They don’t offer anything interesting and will include the posts for which links have already been included. After publishing an article or post, include it in sitemap and submit it to Google or bing. Some plugins like Sitemap plugin automatically do this for you.
